Extract objects and remove backgrounds. Part 1: Choosing Right

Photoshop background removal is tricky and very flexible. In the past, in order to burn an image, i.e. remove the background around the object we wanted to extract, we had to work really hard with the pantol tool or by separating channels. Today, Photoshop gives us a selection of useful background removal tools, each of which has its own uniqueness.

In general, there are two main steps in burning an image: the first step is the selection of the object, and the second step is the accuracy of the selection. In this article, we will focus on the first step, and save the second step for another article.

AI TOOLS

In the latest versions of Photoshop, every time we upload an image we will get a floating window that will allow us, with the click of a button, to remove the background or, alternatively, select the object.

At the time of writing, the results of these tools are inaccurate to say the least. This can be useful in cases where the object is not complex and there is a clear contrast between the object and the background.

The next 'smart' tool we'll test is the Object Selection Tool, which is quite similar to the Select Object button we saw earlier. With this brush we can click the mouse and mark the area we want to review and select the object from. When we select this brush, we can control several properties from the top ruler.
